Job Description
Conceive and execute novel scientific research or development that achieves projects and area goals. Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise and critically evaluate relevant scientific and regulatory advances and integrate this knowledge into research or development programs.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Demonstrate the ability to resolve key project hurdles and assumptions by effectively utilizing available information and technical expertise (DFx, DOE, brainstorming, xFMEA, continuous improvement).
+ Publish research in peer-reviewed journals and present work at scientific conferences (PDS&T/R&D and ACOS poster sessions).
+ Seize opportunities to pursue project relevant leads that are in line with the group’s strategy (independency, ability to work in team environment).
+ Demonstrates high proficiency across a wide range of relevant technologies (design, analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing).
+ Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab (experiment planning, material control, recordkeeping, handling ELN).
+ Proactively seek out new information in the literature and incorporate this into individual project(s) as well as the overall program.
+ Primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
+ Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
+ May mentor/supervise a team of one or more and guide and evaluate the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals.
Qualifications
+ BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or a related field and 12+ (BS), 10+ (MS), or 4+ (PhD) years of relevant industrial experience.
+ Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own scientific discipline (product/device development, design controls, 3D/2D CAD and EPDM, drawings, mechanical design, FEA, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, laboratory testing, high volume manufacturing, injection molding, metrology, statistics).
+ Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and master new experimental techniques.
+ Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
+ Effective writer and communicator of research or other regulatory materials (technical protocols, reports, memos, presentations).
