Scientist, Cellular/Molecular Biologist – In vitro Biology, Drug Discovery Science & Technology, Protein Degradation Platform Team (PDPT)

The Proteasome Sciences Group within PDPT has an opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Scientist I/II (in vitro cellular/molecular biologist) to make substantial contributions towards the progression of targeted protein degradation discovery programs in a highly collaborative multidisciplinary research team. This role is to complement a dynamic group of scientists focused on ubiquitin-proteasome systems biology, chemical biology, and proteomics. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceiving, designing, and executing robust in vitro studies and delivering high quality data. In this role, he/she will work closely with colleagues and members of the Therapeutic Platform Teams to implement in vitro assay strategies and mechanistic studies as part of the overall project plan. The candidate should play an active role in communicating and collaborating with scientists across Abbvie to advance projects through day-to-day interactions, presentation of data, and interpretation of results. The scientist must be capable of working independently while contributing and participating in a team environment and must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

+ Develop and execute in vitro assays, compound screening, mechanistic studies, and deliver high quality data to drive progress of internal/external collaborations, programs, and platform learnings

+ Strategically implement multiple standard and novel assay formats in vitro

+ Effectively communicate results in presentations and written reports

+ Actively participate in cross-functional teams

Basic Qualifications:

+ Experience working with and maintaining cultured cells (Human and/or Mouse)

+ Strong scientific foundation in the understanding and implementation cell-based assays and readouts

+ Able to think critically and creatively across multiple disciplines. Demonstrated ability to solve research problems with experience in standard in vitro assays including assay development, optimization, and troubleshooting

+ Ability to multi-task and successfully interact with a diverse team of scientists to deliver results and meet the needs of various stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Familiarity with a broad range of assay technologies, automation and instrumentation for high-throughput screening, and genetic profiling techniques (CRISPR, DNA/RNA isolations, RNAseq)

+ Experience analyzing data using statistics and graphing software

+ Motivated, independent, and productive problem solver with a proven ability to advance new scientific understandings

+ Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve objectives

+ Experience presenting research activities/results at internal and external meetings

Education and Training:

+ B.S or M.S in cellular/molecular biology, biochemistry, or related fields (1-2 years Industry experience preferred)
