The Director, IT Vendor Management establishes and implements hardware and software acquisition, protection, maintenance and retention policies, standards and procedures that are aligned with IT standards and strategy. The Director, IT Vendor Management requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

This Director, IT Vendor Management (Vended Software Optimization, IT Hardware VMO, IT Services VMO) has oversight of a team of ~12 associates and contractors responsible for IT stakeholder and 3rd Party software risk, relationship, financial, contract, and performance management. This Director will bring an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the IT function(s) or IT segment(s) as well as industry knowledge of IT Hardware and IT Services suppliers and the associated competitive landscape. As a direct report to the VP of IT Vendor Management, this Director will oversee the most strategic IT Hardware and IT Services vendor relationships for Humana and its subsidiaries, as well as manage all Software and IT maintenance renewals on an annual basis (~900 renewals/yr. spanning over 600 different manufacturers). The successful candidate will provide thought leadership to the VP of ITVMO that will be elevated to the Information Technology leadership team to mature the vendor management program at Humana and deliver maximum value.

Job Description:

+ Determines department’s strategy.

+ Implements strategic plans, drives goals & objectives, and improves performance.

+ Partners with internal stakeholders and departments to determine requirements and ensure coverage for 3rd Party software, IT Hardware and IT Services.

+ Advises executives and IT stakeholders on matters of significance with regards to developing functional strategies related to 3rd Party software renewals, IT Hardware and IT Services.

+ Supports the information technology function, evaluates vendor performance, needs assessment, contractual compliance, spend optimization, value creation and risk management.

+ Makes decisions related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes.

Responsibilities:

+ Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

+ Develop and maintain policies and standards for software vendor management and proactive completion of annual renewals in advance of expiration.

+ Provide thought leadership and guidance regarding best vendor management practices for software subscription, support, and maintenance.

+ Identify, document, and track vendor SLA’s, software licensing entitlements and licensing allowances.

+ Educate and advise IT on IT Software, IT Hardware, and IT Services contracting.

+ Drive to enterprise level IT Software, IT Hardware and IT Services consolidation and savings.

+ Provide enterprise level software vendor management reporting.

Activities:

+ Lead, assign work, and train team

+ Development of renewal policy and software compliance risk management strategies

+ Manage software vendors, contracts and relationships to maximize value creation and costs for software licensing, maintenance, and service offerings

+ Recommend opportunities to improve software license utilization or maintain compliance

+ Identify savings opportunities for renewals, software licensing, IT Hardware and IT services

+ Educate product level IT DRI’s on contractual obligations, risks, and savings opportunities while receiving attestation of ongoing need and use

+ Follow through with vendors and Humana internal departments to obtain identified savings through PO creation and invoice payment

+ Ensure pertinent information is collected, accurate, and available

+ Development of reporting to address management requirements

+ Communicate effectively through various channels – email, individual interactions, group meetings, and presentations – to C-level, executives, end users, management, developers, and software 3rd Parties

Required Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and/or 10+ years of experience in technical leadership in vendor management, IT procurement and/or Information Technology

+ 5+ years of people leadership / management experience

+ In-depth knowledge and direct experience in high dollar and complex vendor contract negotiations, technology, and risk best practices

+ Strong verbal and communication skills

+ Ability to influence peers and leadership teams across the organization

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience with IT asset, risk, or IT supplier management

+ Liaison experience between IT stakeholders, Business, and IT finance

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$164,700 – $226,600 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
