Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is seeking to hire an Information Technology (IT) Coordinator. The IT Coordinator serves as a liaison between DCEO and the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) and is responsible for overseeing access to Agency Technology Services. The IT Coordinator will manage employee access to technology and applications, ensure timely refresh of Agency technology, track Agency access requests, and make recommendations for Information Technology processes, policies, and procedures. The IT Coordinator will also serve as a backup to the Agency Telecommunications and Vehicle Coordinators and participate in the annual inventory of Telecommunications and IT equipment. The ideal candidate for this position will have great attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and experience working in information technology overseeing access management. Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Coordinator for the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO).

  2. Maintains Agency technology access records and performs annual review of employee access.

  3. Assists with development of Agency Technology Policies and Procedures.

  4. Provides support and backup to the Agency Telecommunications and Vehicle Coordinators.

  5. Oversees annual refresh of Agency technology.

  6. Assists with reconciliation of Agency Technology invoices from the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT).

  7. Keeps abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.

  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with coursework in business or public administration.

  2. Requires one (1) year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization, or completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Specialized Skills

  1. Requires one (1) year of experience serving as an Agency Technology Service Requestor.

  2. Requires one (1) year of experience working in Information Technology with extensive knowledge around best practices in network security access requests from an onboarding and offboarding perspective.
Preferred Qualifications

  1. Prefers one (1) year of experience serving as an Agency Technology Service Requestor.

  2. Prefers one (1) year of experience working in Information Technology with extensive knowledge around best practices in network security access requests from an onboarding and offboarding perspective.

  3. Prefers one (1) year experience developing written Information Technology processes, procedures, and/or policies.

  4. Prefers one (1) year experience entering tickets into an information technology service management tool such as ServiceNow or similar platforms which manage and track IT/Telecom service requests.

  5. Prefers one (1) year of experience in IT customer service or one (1) year of technical experience with wireless, voice and data services.
Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.

  2. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.

  3. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.  This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.

  4. Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.

  5. Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and training to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.  

  6. This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.  This job may require a good deal of walking or standing, or involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
