Functional area: Renewables (Offshore)
Purpose of position:
RWE Renewables Offshore Wind requires a Manager to join the Projects & Investments North America (P&I NA). This position requires a self-motivated, highly responsible, and sophisticated communicator to work with the existing team members to support various offshore initiatives in North America.
The P&I NA team's responsibilities are to 1. provide independent valuation analysis of project opportunities in support of the development process; 2. Manage and execute the formal investment approval process; 3. Serve as the lead financial representative within a project. This role specifically requires more emphasis on (2) and (1).
The team - jointly and individually - also serves a governance role to ensure only fairly represented (challenging others when not) and appropriately analyzed proposals reach the decision level. In addition, the team partners with the business to understand key valuation drivers and dynamics, all to help guide tactical and strategic decision making as well as to optimize project opportunities.Due to the international nature of the team, intellectual flexibility and cultural sensitivity are paramount, along with the required level of general professionalism.
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science or similar university degree required
5+ years' experience in finance roles, including experience with financial modeling (DCF) and proficiency in Excel
Working experience with renewable energy financial strucures, including tax equity and financial modelling
Ability to balance competing perspectives and address stakeholder concerns, while pushing back on management as necessary
Superb (quantitative and qualitative) analytical skills and an understanding of the relationship between commercial aggressiveness and shareholder responsibility
Superb written and oral communication skills, particularly including careful attention to detail, and ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines while assuring high quality and accuracy
Positive attitude, even during challenging times, and the ability to have, and find, fun at work
Preferred
Bachelors and an MBA or advanced degree with a focus on statistics, data analytics or other quantitative focus preferred OR finance, business or other professional designations (e.g. CFA, CPA, PMI)
M&A experience, including due diligence experience
Experience working with an international team in a complex organization, including sensitivity to different cultural and linguistic norms as well as a multitude of relevant departments
Knowledge of capital market theory and in-depth familiarity with valuation-related topics, in particular DCF valuation
Responsibilities:
Support aggressive growth ambitions in the Offshore Wind business
Lead the valuation workstream of complex offshore projects, including executing/managing the valuation calculations, presentation and approval process
Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses (including, as required, models and calculations) of prospective investment opportunities and effectively communicate results
Execute the investment approval process, including stakeholder management, verbal and quantitative analysis, and process management
Ensure clear, high quality, delivery of papers and presentations for RWE Offshore Board and RWE AG Board consideration
Evaluate and challenge inputs to investment decisions, especially those inputs that are key to valuation results (including identifying key value drivers)
Identify and implement process / valuation model improvements, including model standardization and proposing/implementing department-wide guidance
Support financial due diligence and strategic & non-US initiatives as required, including quality control reviews
Serve in the governance role to challenge assumptions while maintaining a commercial mindset on investment, divestment, bidding, and partnering decisions
