Job Description

Global Gear LLC has an opening for the position of Manufacturing/Process Engineer (Ref# MPE712HB) to work at 2500 Curtiss Street, Downers Grove, IL 60515 and the position requires up to 10% domestic travel.

JOB DUTIES: Create manufacturing processes for new product and lead the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities. Perform process improvements in production machining environment for automotive industry. Lead process development and optimization projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and specifications. Read, understand, and digest standards and specifications. Use CAD to create process sketches. Design tooling and fixtures as required and improve upon existing design as needed. Approve tooling or cutter design from supplier. Review and correct process details as needed. Lead a new project as the project lead by following the APQP guidelines and be proactive in all manner related to the project. Support shop floor personnel in trouble-shooting process and/or quality problems associated with part manufacture in general. Continually review and optimize existing manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and quality. Properly select the right tooling and fixture for the process. Actively support the development and manufacturing of prototype for customer. Communicate to managers, colleagues, supplier, setup men, and operators. Design fixtures, tools, and processes using CAD/CAM systems. Implement designed processes into production and qualification of products to meet engineering drawings and specifications. Design manufacturing cells and perform machine and cell layouts. Use of ANSYS, KISSsoft, SolidWorks, ESPRIT, ISO 9001/2015, and IATF 16949.

REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years in a related occupation including Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineer, or related experience. Position requires 3 years of experience with manufacturing processes, APQP, ISO 9001/2015, and IATF 16949. 40hrs/week.
