The Payroll and HRIS Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing payroll, HRIS and input to compensation strategy and administration for over 1,300 employees operating in 48 states and 1 province in Canada. The Manager is responsible for providing leadership, coaching, planning, project coordination and management for the development of payroll practices and utilizing HRIS systems to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations to meet current and future business needs. The Manager will effectively lead and develop a team of payroll employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Management
Manages weekly and biweekly multistate and Canadian payroll processing; ensuring payroll is properly prepared & accurate. This includes, but is not limited to, the processing of all payroll reports, all employee changes, required deductions, special payroll runs and payments (including withholding, unemployment, and tax) for the company with accuracy and by required deadlines.
Facilitates, researches and resolves escalated and/or complex payroll issues, effectively communicating resolution to employee.
Responsible for compiling data to fulfill audit requirements, legal reporting and compliance requirements which include 401K payroll administration & reporting.
Keeps apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends.
Provides administrative support for stock plans and long-term incentive plans with Accounting & Finance for payroll transactions.
HRIS Management:
Manages the HRIS system with day-to-day activities to support ADP Workforce Now HRIS including HR employee database, self-service modules, cloud-based employee files.
Oversee the internal management system to ensure connectivity & integration co-management with payroll system.
Serves as an interface between internal/external customers and the functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of HRIS applications to automate and streamline processes.
Leadership:
Recruits, trains, motivates and manages a team of payroll employees.
Establishes development goals for staff and provides ongoing coaching and direction to employees.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field.
7+ years of leading full cycle payroll in a multiple-state environment and HRIS and compensation function.
Professional payroll certification (CPP) preferred
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now self-service modules and HRIS.
Canadian payroll experience preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to maintain confidential information.
Detail oriented, accurate, organized and capable of prioritizing workload of multiple tasks and deadlines.
Abides by all regulations, policies, and accounting, payroll and HR laws and practices.
Advance working knowledge of payroll processing and database systems required.
Ability to work independently, and as a team member, while using discretion in decision making and sound judgement in problem solving.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while effectively maintaining deadlines.
Excellent conceptual, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to develop presentations and present ideas at both the "big picture" and detail level.
Must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local laws and regulations.
