The University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services unit is seeking a full time, motivated certified pharmacy technician for the position of Pharmacy Technician II, Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Central Call Center. This position requires a reliable team player who excels in providing great customer care to a culturally diverse patient population. Ideal candidates are those that can quickly adapt to change, work with patients, providers and the outpatient pharmacies and address incoming calls, triage calls, and solve problems. This is a remote work position.

The range of operational hours for Central Outpatient Pharmacy Call Center are generally between 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Description:

The Pharmacy Technician II, Ambulatory Pharmacy Central Call Center, develops and maintains positive customer relations and is responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. The Pharmacy Technician II ensures customer requests are handled and resolved appropriately and in a timely manner. This position works under the direct supervision of licensed Clinical Pharmacists.

Duties & Responsibilities (Under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist):

Work competently and independently to ensure phone calls are answered in a timely manner and transferred appropriately to designated staff and pharmacies
Maintain all pharmacy software (automation) necessary for prescription processing according to each pharmacy's workflow
Coordinate and incorporate the procedures from various programs of the various pharmacies into the daily workflow to assure efficiency in the Central Call Center operation, as applicable
Understand and act in accordance with the laws pertaining to patient confidentiality
Multi-task in a fast-paced setting while paying attention to details
Promote patient care and offering optimal customer service
Perform related pharmacy technician duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois.

2. Any one of the following that equals six (6)months:

A. Successful completion of a formal training program in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

OR

B. Work experience in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices.

3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience as a pharmacy technician.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior Experience in a retail pharmacy setting
Bilingual English/Spanish
Prior pharmacy call center experience
