Description:

Under minimal administrative direction, the Grants and Research Coordinator will manage the financial activities for funded research in the Division of Pulmonary Critical Care, Sleep, and Allergy within the Department of Medicine. Will assist in financial management principles, budget and accounting theory and computer application for the Division. Duties may include, but are not limited to, lab/office purchases as needed, administration of research budgets and related fiscal planning; data planning; maintenance and analysis; providing assistance in grants and divisional report analysis

Duties & Responsibilities:
Manages the entire Grant portfolio for the Division. Initiates, develops, and executes pre-award documentation for submission; reviews documentation for critical errors and corrects according to internal and external submission guidelines. Completes Pre and post award review of budgets. Creates and reviews budgets for principal investigators and department administrators on regulatory policies and procedure. Completes all application guidelines. Is the liaison between PI and the sponsoring agency.
Reviews, interprets, and counsels, principal investigators and departmental administrators on regulatory policies and procedures; communicates and ensures compliance with internal, federal, and sponsoring organizations' rules and regulations.
Formulates budgets for grant proposals; forecasts and appropriates funds to support research expenditures; and maintains budgets and budget justifications for sponsored programs. Provides Faculty with updates on annual reports that are due to sponsoring agency as well as internally. Establishes necessary changes to adjust and adhere to approved budgets.
Manages all post award operational finances for sponsored projects, negotiates sponsor payments for clinical trials and subcontractors. Provides monthly salary reports to PI's for both grant and institutional internal funds. As well as manages all invoicing that is submitted to sponsors for grants. Reviews invoices for subcontracts for accuracy and submits for payment as needed.
Works as the liaison to internal OSP units and external VA, grant sponsoring agencies; agencies cultivating collaborative relationships and serving as a representative of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy.
Creates, revises, and manages customized and special reports for the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy and sponsoring grant agencies. Analyzes and disseminates reports; interpreting results to departmental administrators and sponsoring agencies.
