Job Summary:
The technologist will help plan and construct a super-resolution optical microscope. He/she will also synthesize and fabricate samples for testing and calibrating the microscope.
This is a one-year termed position eligible for renewal based on funding and performance.
Specific Responsibilities:
Follows pre-defined protocols, policies, procedure, regulations, Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments and completes basic trouble-shooting techniques.
Sets-up, operates and maintains standard lab equipment.
Using an entry level of skill, completes the following activities
Records test results and may maintain databases.
Completes standard and routine clerical duties such as copying, filing, data entry, word processing, etc.
Completes other duties as assigned
Molecular Biology:
DNA, RNA, Protein isolation, purification and expressionSouthern, Northern, Western blotting
PCR, RT-PCR
Plasmid preparation
Cloning, mapping and sequencing of DNA
Recombinant virus production and purification
Cellular Biology:
Cell culture, cell isolation
Functional studies
Transfection
Histology:
Tissue fixation/processing: embedding, preparation of blocks and sectioning, staining
Immunohistochemistry
Microscopy
Immunology:
Flow cytometry
ELISA, Elispot assay
Cytokine assay
Antibody production and purification
Animal:
Husbandry
Breedingand screening transgenic mice
Dissections
Blood collection
Surgical procedures
Database management of colony
Other (please specify):
Design of optics and instrumentation
Synthesizing polymer samples
Prospects & Gifts
Develops, plans, and implements strategies and goals for key leadership giving prospects and proactively works to develop donor pipeline.
Identifies leadership giving prospects and potential volunteers and develops individual annual engagement plans
Identifies, research & personally solicits gifts of $10K - $50K by managing a portfolio of approximately 150 prospects annually.
Solicits at least 20 five-figure gifts annually.
Ensures proper stewardship and solicitation follow-up.
Provides necessary documentation and follow-up to donors, volunteers & internal contacts and inputs all volunteer and alumni activity in database.
Works collaboratively with the Major Gifts team to develop strategic relationships in major markets.
Administration
Manages development and execution of programming and marketing related to engagement and solicitation.
Articulates program goals and timelines.
Provides work direction to colleagues or collaborators.
Update alumni records and contact activity in database
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices.
Supervisory
Supervises 1-2 staff &/or provides work direction.
Provides training to staff within or outside of immediate dept or division in regard to function.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
HS diploma or equivalent and some basic science courses is required.

B.S. degree in science/engineering
