Job Summary
Responsible for storeroom record keeping, issuance, and receipt duties for University Housing Dining Services.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • In charge of a storeroom that receives, stores, and issues a variety of general items.
  • Checks stock against shipping authorizations for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions, and conformance to purchase orders.
  • Stores stock according to established methods.
  • Selects, determines, and applies storekeeping guides, procedures, and methods without specific interpretations from supervisors.
  • Makes recommendations concerning alignment of services to operating needs.
  • Refers situations involving major deviations from established methods to a supervisor and makes recommendations suggesting course of action to be taken.
  • Loads and unloads various stock when required.
  • Makes special purchases under authorized regulations.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness in adapting storekeeping methods to handling of items, locating reference sources, and providing solutions to problems presented.
  • Exercises judgment in estimating amounts of supplies needed for replenishment prepares necessary reports.
  • Handles and stores special stock items requiring special treatment that deviates from established.
  • Cyclic, special, and other inventories of bin and bulk stock.
  • Storekeeping methods and that requires knowledge of stock characterized by susceptibility to spontaneous combustion, toxicity, fragility, rapid deterioration, contamination, or ease of physical damage.
  • Issues stock as requested on requisitions by checking items against stock levels on hand, suggesting substitutes, noting quantities issued on requisitions, and obtaining appropriate signatures on requisitions.
  • Reads and interprets data processing forms used for stock and inventory record maintenance and reorders when required.
  • Independently performs difficult tasks in connection with checking and tallying special and/or technical items of supply.
  • Counts, grades, or weighs articles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Additional Physical Demands
    The position involves routine lifting and moving of loads of produce and/or materials which may include the use of heavy machinery and/or equipment. The work is performed in a storeroom where there is some discomfort in low temperature areas (-30 degrees F to 65 degrees F). There is risk involved when working with dangerous machinery, wet floors, and sudden changes in temperature.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • One (1) year (12 months) of work experience comparable to that performed at the Storekeeper I level of this series or in other positions of comparable responsibility.
    Appointment Information

    This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3318 - Storekeeper II position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the posting close date. This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The entry-level salary for Storekeeper II is $24.53 an hour.
