Job Purpose

The Quality Analyst is responsible for being the first point of contact for internal and external product issues. As a member of the quality team, they assess any deviations from the customer specifications and internal requirements. This work may include physical testing on the lab bench, production floor activities, and data analysis. Additionally, this position supports quality investigations outside of the department and is a key player in the containment work required by customer complaints. Using relevant findings and learnings in their work, the quality analyst also acts as a focal point to drive the changes required to make long term improvements in the plant. These continuous improvement efforts are enforced using proper problem solving/manufacturing techniques like root cause/corrective action methodology and Lean Six Sigma.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and manage internal investigations related to the production process.
  • Advise on corrective actions both for current work and for overall continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Review and determine validity of external customer complaints related to product performance using standard paint and analytical lab techniques.
  • Apply DMAIC and Lean methodologies to determine root cause (i.e. 5Whys's, Fishbone diagrams, 8D, etc.).
  • Promote compliance to Akzonobel and site QMS initiatives.
  • Function as a liaison between R&D, Quality, and the Waukegan site.
  • Champion the internal and external quality audit activities.
  • Operate the non-conforming product processes in conjunction with AS9100D.
  • Coordinate with the aerospace solutions and color teams to resolve quality matters.
  • Identify gaps in procedure and SOP to better streamline site practices.
  • Recommend contingency plans and strategies for short term gaps and temporary MOC's.
  • Pushes the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Initiate and respond to inter-department quality issues, inquiries, and recommendations.
  • Support all site safety initiatives through good lab practices, GEMBA walks and the BBS process.
  • Practice 5S on all lab, plant, and bench activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, STEM preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5yrs of lab testing experience, coatings/polymers preferred.
  • Well versed in RCCA problem solving.
  • ERP experience preferred.
  • MS Office applications including a strong Excel background.
  • Lab equipment hardware and softwJob are operation.
  • Interpretation of generated data and troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
  • Physical testing and application of coatings.
  • Team player - works well independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficient in math calculations related to quality analysis.
  • Analytically minded to problem solve using data driven decisions.
  • Able to work up to 8 hours per day in standing tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast paced, continually changing environment.
  • Perform tasks with all required PPE safely and proficiently.
  • Comfortable with changing priorities and making quick, accurate decisions in a multitude of scenarios.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written with various levels of management and personnel.
  • Comfortable reading, interpreting, and applying customer specifications.
  • Comfortable engaging internal and external customer productively.
  • Effectively manages time to meet deadlines.

Rewards & Benefits

The salary range for these skills is: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
