Position Title: Food Pantry Specialist

Job Summary: This position is to manage the daily operations of the food pantry. This includes Free Food Friday event, To your Door pantry delivery program and Order Ahead, an online pantry ordering system.

Reports To: Business Administrator

Qualifications:
Must have experience in multiple computer platforms, using both Windows and Chrome-based systems.
Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook, at an intermediate level or higher.
Must have experience using Google Drive and cloud-based programs.
Experience managing data in databases.
Must be articulate and able to quickly develop rapport with customers.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Must be open and adaptive to change.
Individual must be detail oriented.
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
This job operates in both a professional office environment and a warehouse distribution environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
This role also works in the food processing area and will work inside and outside.
The individual must be willing to become familiar with and support the mission of The Salvation Army and be able to pass a background check. Individuals must have a valid driver's license and be able to pass yearly motor vehicle checks.

Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Skills:
Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
Must have an interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
Demonstrated awareness of budget resources and cost control.
Must be able to work days; weekends and holidays if necessary. Especially in emergent situations.

Essential Responsibilities:
Oversee the operation of the food pantry programs, with administrative direction, while following the overall Salvation Army of Freeport mission.
Data management for various pantry programs, including neighbor/client database.(Link to Feed and Order Ahead specifically).
Will maintain and enhance distribution, pick-up and delivery site operations.
Will train and recruit volunteers and program leads.
Oversee that the food, donated or purchased, is unloaded, sorted, and stored in its designated location.
Work with other social service agencies for referrals and cooperative efforts.
Coordinate volunteers for pantry programs and other events as needed.
Communicate with neighbors as needed.
Provide food assistance to clients within established guidelines.
Participate in the community food drives that may be held benefiting The Salvation Army Pantry.
Be familiar with and knowledgeable of community food resources.
Generate statistical information from the pantry to be included in the monthly statistical report.
Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army's "Safe from Harm" Certification.
Perform other duties as assigned as related to Food Pantry management.
Position Ranking:
Regular, Part Time, Non-Exempt

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to talk and listen, stand, walk, sit and use hands. Individual must be able to regularly lift 30 pounds and occasionally lift fifty pounds. This position will be required to lift boxes of food product from pallets and may be working inside trucks/vans and going in and out of vehicles.
