We are currently seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join the Legal & Compliance team for Hexagon's Autonomous Solutions division. Are you enthusiastic, motivated, and keen to apply your paralegal experience and have a yearning to expand your knowledge and skills? If so, we want to hear from you! Reporting to our VP, Division General Counsel and Compliance Officer, you will provide support for our division's legal and compliance operations, commercial transactions, corporate governance, and intellectual property matters.
The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position may be based in Calgary, AB or Peoria, IL.

 


Responsibilities

 

As our Paralegal/Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for providing authoritative and comprehensive paralegal services meeting the commercial and strategic needs of the business. Specifically, you will:
Prepare, draft and send standard form documents and templates
Coordinate execution of contracts and corporate resolutions
Maintain the Legal & Compliance department's document filing system, and be responsible for document and form management
Oversee the Intellectual Property files and registers
Assist with special projects and training as assigned, including but not limited to acting as a compliance lead for internal compliance initiatives, risk assessment reviews, and assistance with external customer requests;
Maintain current knowledge of internal policies and procedures relative to legal and regulatory requirements
Conduct research as assigned
Perform such other tasks which the VP, Division General Counsel and Compliance Officer may require you to undertake from time to time

 


Qualifications

 

Must Have:
3-7 years of relevant experience in business, IP and/or regulatory law acquired at a large firm or multinational company
Graduate of a post-secondary, accredited Paralegal program or equivalent paralegal work experience will be considered in lieu
Capacity to manage many files simultaneously, work well under pressure and exercise initiative
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Capacity to occasionally accommodate a flexible schedule
Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and direct competing priorities, whilst working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Key Success Factors:
Excellent analytical skills, good judgment, organizational skills and high attention to detail
Client-service oriented, including strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
Proactive and positive team player
Nice to Have:
Experience with Canadian, UK and EU privacy laws
Working knowledge of intellectual property global filing requirements
Contract management experience
