Overview

 

Altorfer Power, a leading Caterpillar dealer involved in the sales, manufacturing, and delivery of large generator sets and associated equipment, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics Manager. Our business primarily serves large data centers across the United States and other Power Systems customers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in logistics and supply chain management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including strategic leadership roles. This role demands a leader who can mentor and guide a diverse team, develop and execute robust logistics strategies, and ensure exceptional operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

 


Basic Duties

 

Team Management: Lead and supervise the logistics team and parts warehouse team. Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and continuous improvement. Oversee employee productivity and performance including conducting annual reviews, administering disciplinary action as necessary, promoting safety in the workplace and helping to lead technical and professional development.
Transportation Management: Plan, implement, and manage logistics strategies and operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Warehouse Management: Oversee warehouse operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and the storage of goods. Ensure efficient and safe warehousing practices. Includes managing offsite storage warehouse and yard storage.
Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels to ensure that goods are stored correctly and efficiently. Working with other departments in maintaining optimal stock levels to meet business needs.
Vendor Coordination: Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and transportation companies to ensure efficient and cost-effective logistics operations.
Cost Management: Manage and optimize logistics costs, including transportation, warehousing, and inventory costs. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Logistics Planning: Develop and implement logistics strategies that support the company's business objectives. Plan and coordinate the logistics and supply chain activities to ensure smooth operations.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to logistics operations. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Performance Monitoring: Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of logistics operations. Prepare and present reports to senior management.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies in the logistics process. Ensure that all problems are handled promptly and efficiently.
Technology Utilization: Utilize logistics software and tools to manage and optimize logistics operations. Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in logistics management.
Assist employees on duties and define the scope of work to ensure expectations are met.
Customer Service: Ensure that customer delivery requirements are met efficiently and effectively. Work closely with the customer service team to address and resolve any delivery issues. Work with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Inventory Control, Project Management and Engineering in support of Packaging Operations
Perform other duties as assigned. 

 


Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CLTD, CML) are preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics management or a related field, with a proven track record of successful logistics operations.
Knowledge of safety requirements and protocols.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Proficient in logistics software and tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft, Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on the final candidate).
