Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Director of Global Data Center Master Planning who will report directly to the DCE Global Data Center Design & Construction organization lead. As the Director of Global Master Planning, you will build and lead a global team of master planning professionals who will have the key responsibility for supporting site selection and acquisition processes, conducting land due diligence requirements, performing data center test fits according to local planning requirements, securing governmental zoning and entitlement approvals, and developing data center reference designs and standards. Substantial work and coordination with internal cross functional stakeholders (Data Center Site Selection, Design & Construction (D&C), Data Center Operations (DCO), Sustainability, Utility Sourcing, Legal, etc.) along with 3rd party vendors (Design, Civil & Environmental consultants, contractors, external legal advisors, etc.). This role is pivotal in developing and standardizing the data center designs while ensuring the strategic growth and operational excellence of our global data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

1. Site Selection and Acquisition Support:

2. Conduct comprehensive analysis and evaluation of potential sites for data center development.

3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess site suitability based on technical, environmental, regulatory, and business criteria.

4. Participate in negotiations and due diligence processes for land acquisition.

5. Land Due Diligence:

6. Perform detailed due diligence on prospective land parcels, considering zoning, utilities, access, and environmental factors.

7. Assess feasibility and risk factors associated with land acquisition for data center development.

8. Data Center Building Test Fits:

9. Develop preliminary data center designs and layouts (test fits) based on local planning regulations and operational requirements.

10. Optimize space utilization, power distribution, cooling systems, and physical security measures within design constraints.

11. Data Center Reference Designs and Standards:

12. Define and maintain data center reference designs and architectural standards to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across global projects.

13. Incorporate best practices, industry standards, and emerging technologies into design frameworks.

14. Stakeholder Collaboration:

15. Work closely with internal stakeholders (real estate, engineering, operations, finance) and external consultants (architects, engineers, legal advisors) to align on project objectives and deliverables.

16. Provide technical expertise and guidance during project planning and execution phases.

17. Regulatory Compliance:

18. Stay abreast of local, national, and international regulations impacting data center development.

19. Ensure all designs and plans comply with regulatory requirements and obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, or related technical field, AIA licensed architect or Master’s degree would be a plus.

+ Proven experience in site selection, land due diligence, and data center planning/design, preferably in a global context.

+ Strong knowledge of data center architectural design principles, site HVAC systems, site utility, MV/LV electrical distribution, and data center infrastructure.

+ Proven technical depth needed to assist in running this unique space in addition to a strong background of organizational management and leadership.

+ Strong leadership skills, and experience in leading teams and projects.

+ Familiarity with local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards.

+ Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex technical and business requirements.

+ Effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus.

+ Extensive design team project management experience and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and PowerPoint software and other relevant tools.

US: Hiring Range: from $139,300 to $291,900 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
