Summary The incumbent serves as the Supervisor (Linen/Uniform Distribution), Environmental Management Service at VAIHCS. The incumbent is under the supervision of the Hospital Housekeeping Officer, Environmental Management Service. The incumbent is responsible for the Linen/Uniform Distribution and is responsible for the total operation of this section. Responsibilities Adhere to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by higher level supervisors. Recommend changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and make minor deviations in procedures or redirect resources under their control to overcome problems such as material delays or unplanned absences. Assign work to individuals and provide technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, coordinate work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress to meet schedules. Advise and counsel workers on how to improve their performance and explain new work techniques Responsible for all linen and textile care program management responsibilities for the VAHICS. Serves as COR for the general linen and patient clothing laundering contract. Responsibility for supervising (2) WG-5703-04 Motor Vehicle Operators/Linen Drivers; (1) WG-03 Sewing Machine Operator and (2) WG-3566-02 Housekeeping Aides/Linen Distribution Workers . Direct first level supervisory and decision authority over linen distribution , patient assistance program, patient laundry and sewing work functions with subordinates in two or more dissimilar or unrelated occupations. Maintains accountability and security of linen and uniforms. Maintains all records necessary for accountability and statistical records for preparation of reports for the Hospital Housekeeping Officer, Environmental Management Service. Maintains linen accountability, uniform and Textile inventory records and uses these records to recommend *Selectee may need to serve a Supervisory Probation Period. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; rotating shifts. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/23/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Required to work continuously on concrete or tiled flooring. May be required to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, stooping and bending. Must be able to climb ladders , move heavily loaded carts and work in congested areas. Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in a well-lighted and climate controlled atmosphere. Incumbent must be able to perform duties in a very busy environment, working around delicate equipment without disturbing patients and staff. Incumbent may be required to work weekends and holidays. Incumbent maybe required to work shifts other than the one hired for and work beyond normal working hours when necessary. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
