SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 200 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 165,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We’re Seeking:

We are seeking a Waste Treatment Operator. We have openings for 2nd and 3rd shift. Typically this role is Monday-Friday, but some weekends may be required based on need.

2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm

3rd Shift: 11pm-7am

Job Responsibilities:

+ Physically observing and monitoring the operation control panel (for PH, high, low alarms, etc.)

+ Verifying all pumps and valves are functioning properly

+ Calibrating PH Meters and cleaning probes

+ Monitoring tank levels

+ Communicating with the metal finishing department

+ Documentation on the logs at regular intervals

+ Physical observance of the neutralization reactor (N1) and the clarifier every 15 minutes when running

+ Checking for water in hopper

+ Making additions to all day tanks and verifying that the feed systems are working properly and flowing at proper rates

+ Batch treatment of chrome, waxes and oils including assuring that the oil skimmer on T1 is always functioning:

+ Treatment of waste wax will include emptying the filter press and dumping its hopper B. Treatment of recyclable oil will involve separation by acidification and polymerization followed by pumping water to T1 and all oil to totes. It will also involve moving full totes to storage room.

+ General Housekeeping and scheduled preventative maintenance

+ Performs titrations of process chemistry and coating weight analysis and is capable of making black oxide batch

+ It is very strongly recommended for the operator to get a class K License within one year

+ Maintain a clean and safe work environment

+ Practice safe work habits, following outlined policies and procedure

+ Operate a Forklift

+ Reviewing and comprehending Shop Orders

+ Be aware of SWD Inc., company policy and procedures, including the quality system as defined by QS-9000 and ISO-14001 and outlined in the SWD Inc.’s quality and environmental systems policy and procedure manuals.

Qualifications:

+ Strong computer skills are desired

+ Prefer a minimum of one year experience preferably having a Class K license or obtaining it within one year of employment.

+ Ability to lift 40lbs

+ Manufacturing experience preferred

+ You must be available to work weekends.
