Job Summary:

Caterpillar is seeking a Communication Specialist to work in our Peoria location. In this role, you will report to the Manager Division Communications and will be primarily responsible for creating employee communication content, participating in the planning and execution of employee communications programs, as well as providing vice president level communications support. As a member of the communications team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

+ Collaborating with internal stakeholders and advising on the suitability of approaches for communication efforts.

+ Tracking and analyzing metrics to measure the effectiveness of internal communications.

+ Creating content for employee communication channels; ensuring that messaging and branding are consistent across all channels.

+ Developing and distributing communications materials, such as written communications, presentation materials, etc. to deliver key messages.

Degree Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience desired

What Skills you will have:

Internal Communications : Knowledge of techniques and media for internal communications; ability to produce and distribute news, newsletters and other communications materials targeted at the employees.

Level Working Knowledge:

- Participates in internal communication events or campaigns.

- Resolves common internal communications problems and obstacles.

- Assists in the development of internal communication materials.

- Assesses alternative delivery mechanisms for internal communications.

Communicating for Impact : Knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations.

Level Working Knowledge:

- Analyzes the interests or requirements of the audience; shares only relevant information in a direct and efficient manner.

- Adapts standard communication approaches when conducting dialogue with different audiences or conveying messages.

- Explains others’ view points and asks questions to ensure mutual understanding.

Copywriting and Editing : Knowledge of copywriting and editing; ability to write, review and edit texts and documents to promote marketing.

Level Extensive Experience:

- Develops a variety of written and multimedia communications.

- Proposes key considerations in writing of documents and development of presentations and talking points.

- Writes and edits materials for a variety of target populations.

- Participates in discussions about style and tone differences, and adeptly reflects unique speaker voices and preferences.

Establishing and Maintaining Trust : Knowledge of developing and maintaining trust; ability to develop trusting relationships and provide solicited, respected and valued perspectives to clients/peers that guide thinking, facilitate issue resolution and enhance client/peer capabilities.

Level Working Knowledge:

- Delivers timely, quality advice in specific business areas to satisfy stated client needs.

- Participates in consulting projects that enhance the building of trusting and loyal business relationships.

- Provides accurate subject matter or process knowledge for typical service offerings in specific client business areas.

- Explains how to enhance business relationships and provide effective advice.

- Demonstrates basic competence and sound general business knowledge within an industry’s specific area of expertise.

The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL
