JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position Title: Director of Marketing & Content Division: Marketing & Communications Classification: Exempt Location: Chicago Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 Annually Position Summary: The Director of Marketing and Content, in partnership with the Marketing & Communications team, will drive programmatic education, awareness and activation efforts. Partner, create, and oversee the execution of multimedia and engagement strategies that involve advertising, electronic and direct mail, sponsorships, advertorial content, video, and podcasts. Lead the web content strategy for all ISTO properties. Highly motivated and collaborative with experience and a passion for designing and implementing content strategy, creating relevant content, blogging, and community engagement. Assists in maintaining a positive public image of the Treasurer and Treasurer’s Office via all public facing channels. Attendance is an essential function to this position. Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Oversee development and deployment of marketing strategies that support of growth objectives for each division and its respective programs.

+ Partner with the Division management to create a road map, that connects editorial and communication needs, with programmatic and content strategies.

+ Evaluate tactical performance and develop ongoing enhancements strategies.

+ Engage program heads in the development of marketing strategies.

+ Teach employees throughout the organization the importance of foundational messaging, iterating messages for each unique channel, the importance of audience segmentation and for brand and messaging consistency.

+ Be a thought leader and subject matter expert in constituent journeys, and the nuanced differences in consumer and business marketing strategies.

+ Coordinate and compliment strategies with the social media and content manager.

+ Collaborate with ISTO leadership to drive programmatic growth, audience engagement and reach.

+ Collaborate with communications to develop compelling internal and external communications.

+ Serve as an advisor to the ISTO leadership team, including:

+ Proactively share recommendations to improve audience engagement through digital and public awareness campaigns.

+ Drive conversations about the artificial intelligence in marketing and communication, and leverage technologies to maximize constituent engagement and create internal efficiencies.

+ Proactively identify joint growth opportunities across the Illinois government.

+ Partner with Civic Engagement to identify partnership and sponsorship opportunities with organizations whose missions align with programmatic goals.

+ Advocate for incorporating data into decision making.

+ Communicate engagement data and inform internal stakeholders of progress.

+ Integrate data into strategies and tactics.

+ Teach, coach and mentor staff about using email and other digital strategies to effectively engage constituents.

+ Write in a clear authentic manner, tailored to reflect the values of the audience, and engage respective audience.

+ Create a reporting cadence and identify core stakeholders to share web engagement and applicable data analytics.

+ Lead and partner with marketing agencies on programmatic awareness efforts, especially paid media.

+ Act as liaison between program managers and the office’s marketing firms and vendors to ensure accurate communication.

+ Create a reporting structure to assess the success of campaigns in real time, working with marketing firms and vendors to brief program managers on state of marketing initiatives.

+ Assist the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer and the Deputy Chief of Marketing & Communications as needed.

+ Performs other related duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the job duties of the position.

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or any other related field; seven (7) of more years of experience in marketing or related field; five (5) or more years writing marketing and communication collateral and integrating with design and overall strategy, two (2) or more years of experience managing staff; three or more years working with email marketing platforms, creating custom journeys and deploying campaigns; creating social media, building reach and audience, and utilizing social media management tools, experience with Google, or Adobe analytics or other web measurement tools, and experience in paid and organic search, advertising, and search engine optimization; ; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
