Position Summary

If you’re passionate about sustainability and like to get things done, we have the perfect role for you! The Cell Engineering group is looking to hire a Scientist (I). You will work with some of the most advanced tools and technology on innovative projects to assist fellow scientists getting work done efficiently. Job responsibilities

+ Prepare cryovial lots for strain archiving

+ Perform low and high-throughput nucleic acid extractions

+ Design primers, and carry out and optimize PCRs

+ Prepare electrocompetent cells

+ Operate and maintain equipment, including liquid handling platforms

+ Execute work on lab equipment and at the bench to assist fellow scientists

+ Use a custom LIMS system to record all work executed, track samples and process data

+ Maintain good records of equipment maintenance, operation and failure

+ Write and maintain pertinent SOPs and JSAs

+ Contribute to a knowledge-sharing, positive, safe and inclusive work environment

Job requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in a biological field

+ Experience working in and maintaining a sterile environment

+ Experience preparing cryovial lots preferred

+ Familiarity with and technical understanding of molecular biology and microbiology techniques (experience preferred)

+ Previous experience running liquid handlers a plus

+ Ability to comfortably operate in a fast-paced environment

+ Interest in learning new things

+ Passion for getting work done and assisting others

+ Team player attitude

+ Great attention to detail

+ Thorough, precise, creative and reliable

+ Growth mindset
