GDI&A is seeking a Data Engineer to create, deliver, and support custom data products and enhance/expand capabilities. They will work on analyzing and manipulating large datasets supporting revenue for the business generated from data products.

As the Data Engineer, you will work with internal and external data applications to enable analytical skill teams (specifically Product Development) to answer key questions about the vehicle business. This includes discovering, curating, and managing data sources and developing data product applications per customer request within the Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDIA) context.

This work is tied to the Product Development space and will require a flexible mindset, skills in data transformation, a baseline understanding of SQL coding, a familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and the ability to work cross-functionally. You should have a foundational understanding of vehicle development timing milestones and the ability to develop data product solutions that meet the customer base’s needs.

What you’ll be able to do:

+ Assessing data quality

+ Performing required data transformations

+ Making data security recommendations

+ Crafting data standards

+ Collaborating with IT teams to support data collection, integration, and retention requirements.

+ Acting as the Data Steward to ensure that data utilized by GDIA adheres to compliance, access management, and control policies.

+ Solve customer data and analytics issues while communicating results and methodologies.

+ Working cross-functionally with business and analytical teams to manage data and products.

+ Creating data products that combine various internal data sources enabling more efficient consumption of data.

The minimum requirements we seek:

+ Master’s Degree in Information Technology Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field

+ 5+ years of specific skill team experience (Data Operations, Product Development, Purchasing, or Supply Chain).

+ 2+ years of SQL coding

Our preferred requirements:

+ Fundamental understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

+ Experience with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

+ Comfortable with a broad array of relational and non-relational databases

+ Relevant experience linking business requirements to digital product development.

+ Experience writing and speaking about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences and giving data-driven presentations.

+ Inquisitive, proactive, and interested in learning new tools and techniques.

+ Professional demeanor and ability to persevere in the face of adversity.

+ Foster exceptional customer relationships and solve for win-win outcomes with internal Ford and third-party customers.

+ Problem formulation, solution scoping, and critical thinking

+ Communicate effectively with all levels of the business, with well-developed written and oral skills, and work collaboratively in a team environment.

+ Handle multiple project assignments with minimal direction under tight deadlines and escalate issues as necessary.
