Job Description

Position: HVAC Technician

JLL is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems. Must have knowledge of critical equipment and HVAC components. Ability to work independently and problem-solve efficiently. Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset required.

This is a 3rd Shift position
10 PM - 6 AM, Tuesday through Saturday

General Summary:
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve problems and malfunctions of HVAC systems in a medical facility, ensuring efficient operation.
Possess and actively apply knowledge of safety protocols for operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems.
Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to humidifiers and humidity control.
Familiarity with chill water, glycol water, and hot water plumbing systems.
Identify faulty actuators and take necessary steps to remedy the issue.
Proficiency in cleaning VAV strainers.
Experience and knowledge in working on VAV boxes.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and equipment inventories.
Troubleshoot and repair electric and electronic controls and equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.
Diagnose HVAC electrical components on various systems such as chillers, rooftops, and fan units.
Perform repairs and rebuild pumps and compressors.
Conduct preventative maintenance activities, including cleaning strainers, steam traps, and coils.
Identify potential leaks, develop repair plans, and replace damaged insulation.
Possess physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
Demonstrate flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and handle emergency situations as needed.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
CFC certification.
Knowledge of motor/pump alignment and the ability to verify it.
Proficiency in pneumatic controls, instruments, and automatic dampers.
Understanding of air flows and air balancing in large institutions.
Familiarity with the operation principles of large compressors and the correlation between pressure and temperature variances.
Knowledge of water and steam systems.
Skilled in air compressor functions and repairs.
Background in refrigeration, including the ability to recover refrigerant systems, charge systems, and diagnose refrigerant system issues.
Ability to diagnose and repair rooftop air handlers and chiller units.
Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and the ability to diagnose BAS issues.
Experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of heat exchangers.
Must have or working towards a Stationary Engineer License
Must be willing to join or already apart of the union 'Local 399'

Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, service manuals, and instructions to successfully complete work assignments.
Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations related to the HVAC trade.
Proficiency in using computers and working with DDC systems and BAS controls.

Tools:
Owns a complete set of hand tools necessary for the trade.
