Overview

 

The Logistics Analyst will assess deployment and distribution capability needs within the Department of Defense (DOD) and identify and evaluate innovative solutions to provide those capabilities to future forces. This mid-career level position is located at Scott Air Force Base, IL, supports the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), and requires a DOD Secret clearance.

 


Responsibilities

 

The Logistics Analyst will conduct research and analysis, organize and facilitate engagements, manage data, and prepare client products that include fully coordinated staffing actions, written reports and briefings. Duties include:
Conduct research on mobility concepts, practices, polices, and initiatives.
Assess deployment and distributions operations, technologies, and potential solutions to recommend improvements to current capabilities or suggest leap-ahead opportunities.
Coordinate with DOD stakeholders at the OSD/JS level as well as at Service HQs and Agencies, Major Commands responsible for deployment and sustainment support.
Coordinate with industry, academia, and government to develop and update a capability gap catalog and a catalog of related initiatives.
Perform quantitative and qualitative examination of capabilities and solutions using applicable spreadsheet and modeling tools.
Canvass data bases and consolidate information from numerous sources into a single data base or spreadsheet and manipulate the data for analysis of courses of action.
Perform staffing, facilitation, and coordination activities associated with meetings, interviews, and presentations.
Write reports and prepare presentations to clearly substantiate and communicate results of research and analysis.
Present status updates, results, observations, and recommendations in reports and executive briefings.

 


Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree is preferred.
5-8 years' work experience is required.
DOD knowledge/experience required; TRANSCOM experience preferred.
Familiarity with deployment and distribution operations is desired.
Excellent research, writing, briefing and staff coordination skills.
Active Secret clearance required.
