Position Overview
As a Field Technician, you will provide hardware/software/structured (CAT3,5,6) & fiber optic cabling technical service and support, installation, configuration, and problem resolution in a PC/network/infrastructure environment. You will complete proper inventory and asset recording processes prior to and during delivery and complete appropriate paperwork as required for customer acceptance. On a daily basis you will travel to customer locations within a region, so a flexible work schedule is a must. Structured cabling experience should include the ability to run all cable types via pathways (conduit, drop ceiling, wire mold, etc). Terminate cabling on the appropriate hardware (jacks, patch panel, both 66 type and 110 type). The ability to install voice and data connections, along with the ability to troubleshoot techniques to identify issues with structure cabling and fiber optic cabling.

TheField Services Technicianis primarily responsible for:

Walk the cages within the COLO (Colocation) facilities to identify any system issues that are apparent:
LEDs indicating errors. Provide any feedback to the customer team.
Fans not working. Provide any feedback to the customer team.
Monitor and identify hotspots in the aisles near the racks to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating. Provide any feedback to the customer team.
Install and remove equipment within the customer racks at the direction of the customer.
Validate the Customer standards for equipment deployment are being maintained. Provide feedback to the customer team of any deviations from the standards. Any further actions need to be coordinated and initiated by the Customer team.
Provide to customer any feedback from the COLO provider regarding any issues or concerns. In coordination with the customer coordinate and act at the direction provided by customer.
Serve as an extension of Customer support teams to replace failed parts and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
Assist Customer's helpdesk teams with remote diagnostics and troubleshooting by attaching a customer supplied laptop to a system to.
At the request of the customer escort others within the space within specified work hours. If the request falls out of the normal schedule the request will require 48 hours' notice.
We are seeking candidates with the following experience and skills

High School diploma or equivalent Associate's Degree preferred and at least 2 years' experience with PC systems, related peripherals, structure cabling, and common software programs and Operating Systems
Familiarity with standard Windows O/S and Office suites
Ability to thoroughly and accurately perform inventory and asset recording and complete paperwork as required by customer, including vendor warranties
Ability to perform final configuration tasks on customer premise
2+ years' experience with desktop hardware
2+ years' experience with structure cabling
Excellent customer service and communication skills
