Job Description

1.General job duties. Types of procedures required.

Protects, promotes, and restores health and wellness by practicing at the highest level of the Registered Nurse licensure; collaborating with providers and multidisciplinary care team members to provide care coordination across the continuum. Assesses and supports physical symptoms, provides psychological support to patients, friends, and families, mentors assigned team members, promotes best practices, and maintains professional disposition at all times. RN assumes responsibility for providing direct patient care and documentation in the EMR as required.

2.Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)

EPIC (Electronic Medical Record), Microsoft application basic proficiency, Pyxis medication system

3.Required skills and minimum years of experience.

Experience as an RN in a healthcare environment. 1yr+ of hospital experience preferred.

4.Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

BLS certification and current IL RN license

5.Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)

12hour shifts (7a-7p & 7p-7a), every third weekend (day shift Sat/Sun, night shift Fri/Sat), and holiday rotation.

6.Floating to other units/departments. (If so, to which units/departments?)

Travel RNs are first to float to other departments as needed

7.Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.

18 bed unit

8.Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

Gen med level of care – patient ratio is 4-5:1 (days) and 5-6:1 (nights)

9. Dress Code:

Any color scrubs is fine, no pediatric scrubs please.

10.Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.

Travel RNs receive initial onboarding in collaboration with the department’s Clinical Educator, completion of online learning modules and orientation to the unit. Travel RNs typically have one 12-hour shift in orientation on the floor with a unit preceptor and then work independently with an assigned group of patients thereafter.
