Job Description

The purpose of this position is to manage the Springdale Cemetery. The Springdale Cemetery General Manager will coordinate with the Authority and Foundation Boards to develop effective strategies, goals, and staffing, ensuring that Springdale Cemetery's yearly sales targets, customer service goals, budgetary constraints, and grounds management's objectives are met. This position functions under the direction of the Springdale Cemetery Management Authority.
Examples of Duties
Administration & Accounting:
Oversees all monthly reports, including sales and management, and analyzes budget versus actual performance.
Monitors and reports on the status of bank checking accounts to the Authority Board.
Ensures accuracy and accountability in deposits, transfers, and reconciliations.
Maintains timely administrative and accounting functions based on checklists for each task.
Oversees records management and inventory control, transitioning from paper to computerized systems.
Develops a streamlined system for section maps to improve organization and management.
Collaborates with sales and grounds staff to enhance customer service for burial services and ensure accurate recording of each burial.
Evaluates and suggests improvements based on data from customer service request surveys.
Manages the budget within the constraints of the annual budget.
Works with the Authority and Foundation Boards to develop and execute marketing strategies to promote cemetery services, including traditional burial, cremation, and memorial options.
Creates engaging marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and online content to highlight the unique offerings and atmosphere of the cemetery.
Coordinates and attends community events, fairs, and networking opportunities to increase awareness of the cemetery and establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
Maintains relationships with funeral homes, religious institutions, and other relevant entities to generate referrals and enhance the cemetery's reputation.
Sales, Public Relations, & Customer Service:
Provides guidance and counseling to the sales staff on policies, procedures, and special circumstances, while offering necessary support to facilitate sales closures and enhance customer service.
Oversees sales materials and staffing strategies to ensure sales
targets are achieved.
Manages the granite program, overseeing pricing, custom quotes, ordering, and tracking of memorials and inventory.
Generates relevant sales reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
Reviews advertising and marketing programs with the Authority Board before implementation.
