Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our IT team as a Service Desk Specialist. This position is based at our corporate headquarters located in Northbrook, Illinois and supports our Engineers and Administrative staff throughout the US and internationally.
In this role, you will assist with various IT tasks, troubleshoot technical issues, and contribute to the overall efficiency of our organization's technology infrastructure. If you're passionate about technology, eager to learn, and ready to kick-start your IT career, we want to hear from you!
Technical Support:
Deliver timely and seamless end-user support with efficient tracking and documentation via phone, email, or in-person for 750+ end users
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, phone systems, and peripherals
Escalate complex issues to the appropriate senior IT staff member
User and System Administration:
Assist with maintenance and administration of Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft Office 365, SCCM, network devices, and other cloud-based services such as email managers
Collaborate with Senior IT Service Desk team members, and infrastructure teams for application deployments, and patch management
Documentation and Training:
Create and update technical documentation, including user guides and knowledge base articles
Provide user training where needed on basic device functionality
IT Projects:
Participate in IT projects such as software deployments, hardware rollouts, and network upgrades or enhancements
Research and apply new technologies to improve efficiency and productivity
Security and Compliance:
Follow security protocols and assist in maintaining data privacy
Ensure compliance with company directives and industry standards
Requirements:
Associates degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience required
Understanding of networking, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Android), and hardware components
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft are a plus
Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
Highly self-motivated and directed
Keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability along with the ability to read and write well. Individuals must have the dexterity to perform basic office functions and operate office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, telephone, and other office equipment. The position mainly involves working at a desk and requires the ability to remain for extended periods at a workstation and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
Annual starting base salary (gross): $61,000 to $83,000. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on several factors including consideration for a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base salary is one component of our total compensation package for employees.
