Summary

 

This staff accountant position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and supports other department staff.  

 


Duties and Responsibilities

 

Integral part of a team that produces financial reporting for the firm. Responsible for producing reports quickly while maintaining integrity and accuracy of data
Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets to prepare analyses and reports using advanced Excel functions
Review and analysis of general ledger transactions and accounts, using technical judgment to ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded
Participate in the firm-wide annual forecasting/budgeting process;
Perform monthly account review and variance analysis
Act as a financial liaison to multiple departments by understanding and servicing their business needs
Responsible for the analysis, management and implementation of financial initiatives
Identify opportunities for improvement, and provide information and recommendations to management
Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately to meet a variety of demands
Flexibility to complete special projects
Communicate effectively with other departments and outside parties
Develop a strong understanding of Firm operations and the law firm industry

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred:
Financial reporting experience
CPA or candidate for CPA certification
Other Skills and Abilities:
In addition to the above, the following may also be required of the successful candidate:
Financial presentation experience
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
The use of good judgment and good interpersonal communication skills
Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
