Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Matches parts, pulls product, and routes work to appropriate area(s).
RESPONSIBILITY VARIES BY DEPARTMENT BUT MAY INCLUDE:
* Sorts cartons supplied on conveyor line from Packing, by carrier
* Stacks cartons on pallets or trailer floor, bending/twisting/lifting
* Move empty pallets in place, by hand
* Operate a manual pallet jack to move completed skids
* Operate wrap machine, when needed.
* Uses RF device to stow goods to location.
* Breaks down skids of products.
* Handles and maneuvers cartons, skids, and trolleys.
* Opens cartons for receivers as needed.
* Maneuvers skids using forklift and pallet jack.
* Moves, sets up, or reconfigures stock locations.
* Unloads trucks as shipments arrive.
* Sorts UPS, RPS, or other correspondent/mail into required categories, (examples: "Customer Returns," Lease Plan Returns", "Regular Work").
* Keeps work staged to Receivers.
* Ships all misdirected shipments to correct company locations.
* Keeps supervisor apprised of backlog level and oldest date.
* Maintains cleanliness and neatness of Receiving Department.
* For Books: Matches products (kits) with appropriate ATS and breaks down kits by title to container.
* Maintains smooth flow of work to appropriate area(s) (Kit Matcher) and where appropriate, routes work directly to appropriate area(s) (Jacket Selectors) on in-bound line.
* Audits totes of products for accuracy or discrepancies.
* Assigns batches of totes to sortation stations.
* Communicates any fluctuations in workflow or changes in department status to lead clerk or supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
High school education and three to twelve months experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to customers or employees.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands and fingers; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently must stand and lift/move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally must stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk; hear; and lift/move up to 25 lb. Specific vision requirements include close vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles and occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
