JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Graphic Design Specialist is responsible for assisting with the overall marketing and communication strategies for two entities: the Midwestern Legislative Conference (MLC) and the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission (MIPRC, a compact agency housed in and managed by CSG Midwest). The duties of this position will be split between the Midwest Office general operations and MIPRC. The Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the overall marketing and communication strategies for the two entities, including writing, marketing strategies, design work, website maintenance, and social media management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains brand standards for online, print and website communications
  • Assists in marketing and communications, including the design and production of print and digital collateral, e-newsletter templates, and specialty e-mail blasts as needed for the general office, publications, event promotion
  • Assists with upgrades to and maintenance of the CSG Midwest website and event website.
  • Assists with database and email marketing contact management, developing email marketing schedule and operational protocols
  • Assist with marketing strategies, email and website analytics
  • Assist with event planning, management, communication and registration
  • Website management, including oversight of website redesign, content transfer, and day-to-day content creation, management and maintenance.
  • Design and redesign/update promotional and marketing materials
  • Develop and implement promotional and marketing strategies
  • Work with external stakeholders on project-specific goals and promotion
  • Assist with meetings, workshops and webinars, along with other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details, with excellent proof reading
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, administrative, communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong office technology skills a must: adept in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign and Photoshop; Illustrator, a plus)
  • Graphic design experience and working knowledge of design software
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and experience with content creation
  • Experience with website content management systems (WordPress a plus)
  • Experience with email marketing software (Constant Contact a plus)
  • Experience with event management platforms a plus
  • Ability to quickly learn/adapt to new and changing technology
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with database management

  • Working knowledge of public policy and the role of states within the federal system a plus

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in marketing, communications, graphic design or related field (additional relevant experience may be substituted for education requirement).
  • Two years' experience in marketing, communications, graphic design

COMPENSATION

CSG believes that pay equity and pay transparency advance workplace fairness. Compensation will be equitable and based on experience. The salary range for this position based in the Chicago, IL area is $53,000 to $56,500.
