As a Heavy Equipment Operator at our Peoria Proving Grounds, you will perform expert engineering evaluations and/or testing on various models of construction equipment or other product lines while using safe work practices. This may also include utilizing your expertise and advanced skills to lead projects and/or teams to complete site work in support of engineering tests or facility work. A significant component of our design and test process is to put equipment into operation as it would be on a jobsite. If you enjoy operating, testing and troubleshooting heavy equipment, we have a great opportunity for you.

Specifically, you can expect to:

+ Perform operational evaluations of major equipment systems including but not limited to engine, transmission, final drive, hydraulics, electrical, etc.

+ Read Safe Job Procedures, Standard Test Procedures, and work orders for directions and safe operating practices.

+ Evaluate performance characteristics, serviceability, and safety aspects of all equipment.

+ Communicate through verbal and written reports with engineers, technical staff, visitors, customers and other employees.

+ Maintain field test sites, roadways, and drainage.

+ Perform onsite demonstrations, test work, and required training

+ Travel is less than 10%

The successful candidate must bring :

+ Minimum 5 years of continuous experience in advanced earth moving heavy equipment concepts and equipment applications.

+ Advanced heavy construction equipment operating skills, knowledge of field applications, ability to diagnose application problems, and the potential to deal successfully with new concepts and analytical requirements.

+ Expert operating proficiency on at least 2 Heavy Equipment product lines.

+ Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

+ Must-have the ability to safely lift up to 75 lbs. / 35 lbs. frequently.

+ Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with internal and external customers

+ Ability to communicate effectively with the technical staff, visitors and customers

Top candidates will bring (preferred qualifications):

+ 10 years of experience in advanced earth moving concepts and equipment applications, preferably in the heavy equipment industry outside of Caterpillar

+ Basic computer data entry and word processing

+ Prior experience setting up and running machines with GPS, Accugrade, UTS, and Laser equipment

Compensation: $34.36HR (plus perks)

Shift: First Shift

Hours: 07:00AM- 3:00PM

Location: East Peoria, IL
