The Mechanical Project Engineer II will be involved in a variety of engineering projects that focus on New Product Development and continuous improvement within the Elkay Drinking Water product lines.

Responsibilities:

+ Support project teams in the design, development, and launch of new water delivery products and components, ensuring they meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements

+ Design, analyze, and optimize mechanical components for various applications.

+ Collaborate with the electronics engineering team to develop and maintain electromechanical components and wire harnesses.

+ Prepare and maintain detailed documentation throughout the product development process, including design specifications, DFMEAs, test plans (DVPRs), and project reports

+ Oversee the creation and testing of prototypes, analyze test results, and iterate designs based on findings

+ Identify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems encountered during the development process for assigned components & systems

+ Support product builds throughout development cycle

+ Work with manufacturing & operations team to conduct design for manufacturability & assembly assessments

+ Work with suppliers to resolve issues from both current production and development efforts.

+ Complete cost assessments of various design options under consideration

+ Communicate project status, challenges, and milestones to stakeholders throughout development cycle ensuring alignment and support

? Skills & Experiences:

+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, minimum of 2 years experience in product development

+ Experience with engineering analysis tools: tolerance stack analysis and GD&T principles, FEA, and CFD

+ Basic understanding of sheetmetal fabrication & injection molded part design

+ Working knowledge of electrical systems, including wire harnesses and electromechanical components

+ Familiarity with waterway, flow control and refrigeration system design a plus

+ Familiarity with V&V Tools (DFMEA & DVPR)

+ Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis Methodologies (8D, A3)

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

+ Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
