Email a Friend Save Save Apply Now Position Summary: Summer Special Incentive – $15,000 SIGN ON BONUSEXTERNAL ONLY FREE HEALTH INSURANCE THE REST OF THE YEAR Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in providing psychiatric care as a consultant to a large medical/surgical inpatient service. Work collaboratively with hospital staff as requested, providing liaison activities such as educational offerings, assistance with behavioral management of patients, and debriefings. Assists discharge resource team in coordinating transfers to outside psychiatric hospitals as needed and aftercare planning for psychiatric needs. Provides short term therapy for patients with mental health and/or addiction disorders. Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Masters Degree CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Illinois upon hire. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 2+ years SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Experience in hospital-based clinical treatment services preferred Be able to work with child, adolescent adult and geriatric patients on medical, surgical, observation units and the staff assigned to the unit. Must possess flexibility and leadership skills necessary in filling a newly created position. Essential Functions:

+ Provides psychosocial assessments and treatment to patients and or families related to adjustment to illness and discharge planning.

+ Provides education and support to patents and their families to encourage compliance with medical and behavioral regimes.

+ Provides individual, family and group therapy as appropriate to setting.

+ Assists with assessment and treatment of behavioral issues in the hospital, including consultation.

+ Maintains effective communications with staff and attending physicians related to patient’s psychosocial and psychiatric needs.

+ Provides brief interventions utilizing evidence-based techniques such as behavioral activation, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral techniques.

+ Documentation consistent with established policy and procedures to create a permanent patient record.

+ Assists, and serves as a resource to the case management team with referring to treatment or community agencies as appropriate.

+ Provide case management, referring to treatment or community agencies as appropriate.

+ Maintains and provides current information and referral services to patients, caretakers and families related to appropriate community resources and agencies and units as appropriate.

+ Works with and provides education to patients, medical students, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Social Workers.

+ Collaborates with Consult Liaison team to facilitate the management of complicated mental health cases.

+ Consultation with multidisciplinary treatment team members in all areas of the hospital on the assessment, treatment and discharge planning of patients with mental health problems. Participate in scheduled rounding of patients identified for referral to CL services.
