Graduate Assistantship Overview
Elmhurst University welcomes applications for a graduate assistantship in Student Support Services and Intervention for the 2024-2025 academic year, which is eligible for renewal for the 2025-2026 academic year. This is a student position. Interested applicants will need to submit an application for admission into a degree seeking graduate program at elmhurst.edu/graduatestudies and be accepted before becoming eligible for consideration for a graduate assistant position that correlates with their area of study.
Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may be hired for a full tuition waiver based on 20 hours of service per week. Graduate assistants will also receive a stipend while they are working, paid bi-weekly, in support of their continued education. Graduate assistants will participate in their assistantships during the Fall and Spring terms at minimum and may be required to participate during January and/or Summer terms.
Eligible Graduate Programs: M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership, M.S.Ed. in Special Education, M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or M.B.A. with a specialization in Management of People.
Weekly Hours: 20
Tuition Waiver: Full
Stipend: $9,000 for academic year, September-December and February-May
Terms: Fall, Spring
Special Notation: Offers for this position are conditional upon acceptance into one of the above noted graduate programs at Elmhurst University. Graduate students must maintain full-time enrollment in their graduate program in order to maintain a graduate assistantship.
Nature of Work
The Graduate Assistant for Student Support Services and Intervention is primarily responsible for coordinating services and providing resources, support and referrals for undergraduate students in need. This position is supervised by the Director of Student Support Services and Intervention and works closely with the Student Affairs team on additional projects.

Essential Functions
Works directly with undergraduate students, providing support and intervention services, including but not limited to, 1:1 meetings, resources, referrals and follow up with faculty and campus staff.
Demonstrates an understanding and ability to maintain student privacy in accordance with FERPA guidelines.
Assists students in creating and implementing action plans and initiating appropriate follow-up.
Assists students in the Leave of Absence and withdrawal processes, coordinating with the Office of Registration and Records and other areas, as needed.
Outreaches, communicates and gathers information from faculty and other campus staff.
Collaborates with the Division of Student Affairs including but not limited to: Office of Community Standards, Title IX Office, Housing and Residence Life, and Wellness Center.
Assists with programmatic initiatives led by Student Support Services and Intervention.
Inputting and tracking data through case management database (Maxient).
Maintaining and updating Student Support Services and Intervention materials (e.g. Leaves of Absences, Bluejay Nest Fund, Emergency Loans).
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Other Student Affairs projects/programs as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Experience in psychology, case management, social work, or other related field
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong ability to collaborate
Demonstrated commitment to working with and serving diverse populations
Ability to work with students in highly stressful and crisis situations
Self-starter, reliable and able to work independently
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is typically subject to indoor work, though some outdoor work may be required. Physical activities include repetitive motion and exerting up to 10 pounds of force in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
