Job Description

IT SOFTWARE ENGINEER – Abbott Laboratories / Waukegan, IL

Participate in pair programming/development of software components by following Test Driven Design (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) best practices. Update existing monolithic applications into more modern microservices. Write well-engineered source code compliant with accepted standards passing quality criteria, such as SonarQube, Veracode, and OWASP 10. Lead software delivery by applying standards and working with cross-functional teams and technology stacks. designing and implementing full stack solutions utilizing a combination of programming languages (Java and React), scripting languages (HMTL5 and CSS), container management and microservices, (Docker, Kafka and Kubernetes). Realize both short-term and long-term integration solutions for legacy systems, as well as confirm performance and usability standards. Create supporting change control documentation including design documents, unit tests, and deployment instructions. Participate actively in the software release process, from design to implementation and production, within Angular and React Frameworks.

Bachelor’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field of study with at least 5 years of progressive professional software development  experience in: (i) writing well-engineered source code compliant with accepted standards passing quality criteria such as SonarQube, Veracode, and OWASP 10; (ii) designing and implementing full stack solutions utilizing a combination of programming languages (Java and React), scripting languages (HMTL5 and CSS), container and microservices (Docker, Kafka and Kubernetes); (iii) creating supporting change control documentation including design documents, unit test, and deployment instructions; (iv) software release process, from design to implementation and production, within Angular and React Frameworks.
