Position Summary
The Visiting Research Associate I will work closely with and under the direct supervision of the Sr. Genetic Counselor to provide clinical research and program support for the Cancer Prevention and Survivorship Clinical Programs. The Visiting Research Associate I will recruit and consent English and Spanish-speaking patients for research studies conducted through the program, perform medical record abstraction, maintain research database, support with IRB applications and process, and provide program support and clinical tasks such as managing program calendar, organizing and maintaining program documents, including obtaining medical and family history from patients for cancer risk assessment and assist with genetic counselor appointment scheduling.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct surveys, interviews, identify and recruit eligible participants for various research studies.
Assist with processing and maintaining IRB paperwork, including application submissions, progress reports, and protocol updates.
Assist with coordinating program activities, arranging necessary meetings, booking meeting room spaces, scheduling, and confirming genetic counseling and cancer risk appointments, as needed.
Work collaboratively with patients, community organizations, and clinical and program staff.
Collect, process, and maintain program data, reports, and documents.
Conduct literature reviews for various research and clinical quality improvement projects
Conduct hereditary cancer risk assessments with patients by collecting medical and family history intake for quality improvement projects, genetic counseling, and cancer risk appointments. Provides excellent customer service and maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, clinicians, research staff, and collaborators.
Assist with implementation of quality improvement projects at various Mile Square Health Center locations.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required.
Knowledge of basic research concepts, practices, and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Strong data management skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to travel to different Mile Square Health Center locations.
