Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for providing strategic Contract Manufacturing leadership to ensure all commitments are met and to translate corporate strategy into executable actions. The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for identifying and soliciting new or existing customers for Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization opportunities and the effective management (organization, planning, execution, control, and evaluation) of all aspects of the Contract Manufacturing business in the United States, Europe and Asia related to the acquisition and negotiation of new and established contract manufacturing opportunities. This role acts as a single point of contact to management stakeholders and collaborates with many levels of management including senior leadership.

*This position requires working on-site at one of our production sites (Melrose Park, IL; Wilson, NC; or Grand Island, NY) 3 days per week; remaining days may be worked remotely.

Responsibilities

Create andimplement the plan for the overall vision and strategy for Business Development. Provides strategic input, influence and analysis to support Contract Manufacturing vision.
Lead and manage short and long term Contract Manufacturing processes.
Identify and investigate products that can be "gap fillers" to our solutions offerings viadirect or indirect solicitation of new business, utilization of business network, social media, digital and print media, various applicable search engines, lead generators, etc.
Maintain a thorough understanding of injectable products under patent and their characteristics and requirements, e.g., patent issues, manufacturing challenges, pricing and market dynamics, barriers to entry, etc.
Negotiate and finalize deal terms independently.
Lead the project transition from the Customer to the appropriate internal owner once a contract (e.g., quote, supply agreement, etc.) decision is made with Contract Management.
Develop, maintain, and execute strategic customer business plan and client relations. Discuss and align account performance and strategy with internal stakeholders (such as commercial manufacturing, analytical, packaging development, and formulation development services, etc.).
Understand customers' pipeline, strategic outsourcing decisions, potential consolidation, or divestiture plans and other areas that could provide potential future opportunities and partnerships.
Utilize and contribute to Fresenius Kabi marketing campaigns, sponsored conferences, and local networking events to expand market knowledge, competitive intelligence, and contacts.
Maintain sales forecast and assist in development of long-term sales plan(s), along with updates to management on sales and earnings progress versus long-term plan(s).

Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Engineering, or Business required; Master's Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
10+ years of related experience; 7+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in commercial/selling preferred.
Experience preferred in business development working with sterile injectable finished drug product manufacturing and/or relevant work experience in technical operations, or research and development within a pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical company.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Negotiation experience including pricing, contracts, and other business-related activities.
Must have prior experience interacting in a global environment with cross-functional disciplines in a highly matrixed environment (e.g., Manufacturing, Research & Development, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs functions, etc.).
Goodknowledge of Excel and PowerPoint required.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally. Minimum of 30% travel required.
