Job Summary:
The Lab Assistant is responsible for a) daily management of physical resources (eg., inventory, supplies, equipment), b) monitoring lab practices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory (government and university) requirements and technical updates (eg., safety, biohazard waste disposal, training), c) maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory interfaces, d) assisting with data mining, e) providing miscellaneous assistance to PI (or designee) on an ad hoc basis/as requested.

Specific Responsibilities:
Inventory
Take weekly inventory (general stocks, lab spaces 2x, break rooms), update order sheet, order Liquid Nitrogen
Stock hallway, storage rooms and break rooms
Receive packages and deliver items to lab members
General stock aliquoting (eg, Dynabeads protein G, Proteinase K, etc.)
Shipping
Generate Fedex labels, obtain dry ice for shipment
Admera - Project monitoring, shipping, coordination with Admera team & lab members
Lab Instruments/equipment
Troubleshooting/maintenance
Coordinates instrument movements/installations/trainings
Instrument vendors: service contract initiation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting/part replacement, coordinate on-site visits/trainings (eg, pipette calibrations)
Establish service contracts for all instruments
Lab Safety
Coordinate annual safety inspections
Coordinate annual lab member safety trainings
Coordinate Biohazardous waste disposal
Coordinate completion of eIBC form
Communications/emails
Follow up on outstanding orders (Contact vendors/BSA/docks)
Establish working relationships with vendors
Obtain quotes for reagents
Coordinate with facilities for new instruments, repairs, movements
Quarterly fridge cleanings
General
Assist w/new lab/department member onboarding/contact person
Assist w/coordinating with IT for new employees or tech issues
Assist w/department printer troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WORKING IN A LABORATORY OR ADMINISTRATIVE MEDICAL OFFICE SETTING
Target hiring range for this position will be between $18.42 to $25.90 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
