Job Description

Georgia-Pacific is seeking Health & Safety Co-op to join our team September 2024 - February 2025 at one of our many nationwide locations.
The Georgia-Pacific Safety and Health C-op Program is designed to provide meaningful real-work experience. Our co-ops will gain exposure to products that GP manufactures, as well as the diverse safety functions and responsibilities that a Safety Leader has at a manufacturing location. Planned career networking events and focused mentoring prepare our co-ops for a career within the Georgia-Pacific safety team.
Our Team
Successful co-ops will combine scholastic knowledge with on-the-job and computer-based training to develop a basic understanding of Georgia-Pacific's safety programs, policies, and procedures. They will also identify opportunities that drive value for the company, such as streamlining processes, improving efficiency and reducing waste. Learning experiences will be enhanced by interactions with business partners in accounting, operations, information technology, engineering and other areas.
Responsibilities may include work in the following areas:
Participate in and lead incident investigations and learning teams using the PBM principles and framework.
Participate on the plant's joint union and management safety team and complete other initiatives which drive safety excellence.
Perform audits and inspections. Coach employees to assist in connecting front-line employees with safety initiatives and goals.
Present pre-developed safety topics and new hire orientation.
Management of incident database to ensure incidents are tracked and manage corrective action closure.
Encourage the Principled Based Management culture by seeking knowledge and sharing knowledge with employees; embrace different perspectives.
Be willing to transform; Seek, develop, and utilize our visions, strategies, methods, and products to create the greatest value; demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and motivation to succeed.
What You Will Do
Gain an in-depth understanding of safety fundamentals and application of them in a manufacturing setting.
Learn and get involved with different departments at the facility to better understand how it correlates with EHS; Understand the operational processes that take place throughout the plant.
Take initiative to determine growth opportunities with the plant's EHS culture.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 2-year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
* Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

* Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
* Interpersonal communication and collaborative teamwork
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Proficiency in Excel, Access and other Microsoft applications is preferred
* Ability to learn new software applications quickly
