Job Description

Overview

Schedule will be Monday-Friday day shift, will be required to work 2nd shift as needed and work every 4th or 5th weekend.
Technician will be required to work at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Peru as well as, provide coverage for OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa, OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota and OSF St. Clare Medical Center in Princeton.
Starting pay for this position is $17.60/hour.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in ensuring medications are promptly, accurately and safely dispensed, delivered, charged and credited. Prepares and labels medications to match orders. Maintains records related to drug use and charges. This position requires the Technician to be proficient in both dispensing oral medications and in preparation of I.V. solutions. Duties may vary by assigned area or shift. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Work involves standing, lifting and walking continually while in the process of performing duties.
Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: At least 16 years of age and is attending or graduated from an accredited high school or comparable school or educational institution or GED
Licenses/Certifications: Active Pharmacy Technician License OR in process of obtaining a pharmacy technician license with IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation)
Must obtain certification (CPhT) validated by PTCB or National Healthcareer Certification within 2 years of initial licensure or within 2 years of hire, if the original date of Illinois Pharmacy Technician license is prior to January 1, 2008
Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: At least 18 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent. 1 year pharmacy experience .
ther requirements/information: Demonstrates ability to perform and apply arithmetic calculations.
