Position Summary:
The Clinical Sciences Education Director for Family Medicine reports to the Executive Chair, Clinical Sciences for all matters pertaining to curriculum and medical student education. This individual is responsible for the development, design, coordination, and implementation of the curriculum in their respective specialty. They are responsible for assuring comparability of educational experiences and equivalency of student assessment across all learning sites. They will collaborate with the Student Affairs, the Office of Medical Education and the Department of Foundational Sciences & Humanities to ensure vertical integration of the curriculum across the continuum of the medical education degree program. This individual will also collaborate with the clinical site directors and teaching faculty to create clinical education experiences where such experiences will add significant value to student learning and competency.

Serve as the Family Medicine clerkship and sub-internship director.

In collaboration with the Medical Education Office, the Department of Foundational Sciences & Humanities and others in the Clinical Sciences Department, develop clinical learning objectives and activities for the Family Medicine clerkship and sub-internship, and ensure that the objectives are consistent with the goals/outcomes of the Chicago Medical School across the continuum of the curriculum for all years.

Work with faculty to prepare clinical objectives and modules for preview and approval by the Curriculum Committee.

Work with faculty to design specific clinical curriculum components; such as, simulation modules, cases, and other learning activities.

Review and finalize the curriculum website for Family Medicine to ensure that it is updated with the necessary communications and information for all learners from the first to fourth year of medical school.

Help direct the recruitment of faculty at all affiliate sites and provide orientation and direction for their roles and responsibilities.

Ensure the continuity and integration of information technology applications into the clinical curriculum; such as the D2L platform and others.

Monitor and supervise the delivery of the curriculum in Family Medicine clerkships, electives, sub-internships, simulation experiences, and the curriculum provided by on- and off-campus faculty, affiliate site directors, and faculty.

Meet with Family Medicine site directors at least annually.

Develop and/or review all questions for examinations and evaluations.
