Job Description

Mueller Water Products, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an immediate opening for a Buyer - Supply Chain.

The Buyer will evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers while maintaining day to day communication with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, system data integrity, and ordering parameters for individual materials, all while earning a competitive base salary and full benefit offerings for a well-rounded total package for the right individual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating MRO items, equipment, and supplies; supporting the maintenance department as needed
  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating production materials
  • Responsible for issuing work orders, planning, and scheduling production
  • Evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers
  • Maintain day to day communication with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, system data integrity, and ordering parameters for individual materials
  • Maintain ideal inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries, while maximizing turns, and minimizing carrying costs
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Understand the dynamics of effective teamwork in order to attain higher levels of performance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to engage teams in other departments or divisions of the organization
  • Understands and can clearly demonstrate fluency in commercial components of contract /supplier agreements, INCO terms etc.

Required Experience and/or Education:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understands lean manufacturing and can demonstrate various lean practices
  • Ability to effectively work in a team. Knowing role on team, based on project/task
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve goals through influence
  • Cultural knowledge and sensitivity
  • Possess an analytical mindset
  • Ability to adapt to system/technology changes as well as use of current systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to blend multiple sources of data to formulate opinions and recommendations
  • Have ability to follow and challenge Standard Work processes on a daily basis
  • Ability identify road blocks in material/information flow and manage exceptions
  • Demonstrated Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Highlight data trends for the business
  • Demonstrated Risk Awareness and Mitigation
  • Bachelor's Degree, business, supply chain, logistics, or engineering
  • Five plus years of professional supply chain experience
