JOB DESCRIPTION

Laboratory Technician will perform material testing on various rubber samples daily. Prepare test samples, perform tests, and provide test results in a timely manner for a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Communicate with manufacturing supervisors and address priorities. Safely operate and maintain various lab equipment. In addition, the position is responsible for data gathering, data analysis and record keeping. Requirements:

+ Entry level laboratory technician should have at least a high school diploma. Associate degree in chemistry and/or any related field are a plus.

+ Knowledge of Lab Equipment such as Laboratory Mill, molding buttons and slabs, samples preparation, testing, Tensilometer etc. Experience not required but knowledge of this equipment will be a plus.

+ Excellent data analysis capabilities.

+ Flexible and willing to cross train in other QA activities.

+ Good communication skills

+ Managing multiple tasks.

+ Adherence to meeting deadlines.

Responsibility

+ Perform laboratory testing on mixed batches as required per inspection plan.

+ Provide support to all departments and communicate test results in a timely manner. Must assist with production day-to- day batch releases.

+ Must assist shipping dept. with providing rubber buttons, samples, and lab. documents needed for shipping parts to customers.

+ Perform all Laboratory required work including special tests such as Fuel B, % Ash calculation etc.

+ Perform measurement of rubber parts as needed to support urgent shipments.

+ Test expired shelf-life material and chemicals for requalification per quality methods and procedures. Collaborate with mill dept. on shelf-life testing and batch releases (red tag/ white tag).

+ Learn outgoing lot qualification process including visual and dimensional quality checks.

+ Maintain cleanliness and safe environment and comply with the 5S requirement. Keep the Lab. in good working condition (cleanliness, filling test results and organizing all equipment and work areas).

+ Responsible for observing new rubber batches compounds mixed in production milling department at the direction of the chemist and/or chief chemist for establishing new mixing procedure documents.

+ Entering lab. data in the ERP system.

+ Must manage the daily assignment list and enter new assignments to the list. Report immediately any issue(s) in the lab. and / or plant.

+ Participate in continuous improvement project that may help in increasing profitability, efficiency, productivity and utilization.

+ Assist engineering and quality for generating material reports, testing and/or plant trials.

+ Must comply with company’s values and policies.
