Job Description

Description We are looking for a dedicated Paralegal to join our team in CHICAGO, Illinois. In this role, you will be managing U.S. and international trademark portfolios for clients in various industries. You will be preparing, filing, and managing trademark applications, conducting trademark clearance searches, and communicating directly with clients regarding trademark prosecution statuses.

Responsibilities:

- Manage U.S. and international trademark portfolios for clients across multiple industries.

- Prepare and electronically file U.S. trademark applications, Statements of Use, renewal filings, and other related prosecution.

- Conduct trademark clearance searches using subscription-based databases and Internet research.

- Prepare reports for clients regarding pending trademark applications and registered trademarks using CPA docketing software and Excel.

- Coordinate foreign filing and maintenance through communications with foreign associates, including large filing projects.

- Manage small- and large-scale assignment recordal projects, including preparing and filing U.S. assignments and associated documents for foreign recordals.

- Manage execution and legalization of documents.

- Communicate directly with clients and client businesspeople regarding trademark prosecution statuses and obtaining information regarding current use and specimens.

- Prepare and electronically file U.S. copyright applications.

- Provide other support services to trademark attorneys as needed. Requirements – Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field.

- Completion of an accredited Paralegal certification program.

- Demonstrable experience in Trademark Prosecution.

- Proficiency in legal research tools and databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and cases.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Familiarity with the preparation of legal documents and correspondence.

- Demonstrable ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

- Proven track record of working effectively in a team-oriented setting.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Familiarity with electronic filing systems and procedures.

- Strong ethical standards and integrity.
