UX Designer

6 Month contract hire

40 hours a week

Local to Chicagoland area

Office downtown Chicago

UX Designer to our open, inclusive, and collaborative team. This individual will be responsible for designing new interactive digital experiences and applications with a larger multidisciplinary team made up of strategists and architects and with multiple diverse clients.

We’re looking for a designer that is an advocate for users, eager to learn from our team of experienced design leaders, and ready to partner with our clients to plan, create, and deliver new experiences that people use and enjoy every day.

The ideal candidate will have strong and demonstrated UI and UX chops to design new experiences based on established use cases and reusable components. Experience with large scale design systems in Figma would be a huge plus.

This 6-month, contract-to-hire role will ideally be based in the Chicagoland area, but we are open to other U.S. locations.

Responsibilities

- Create designs that deliver exceptional user experience and deliver on client’s strategic objectives and vision.

- Participate in the design process on projects from concept to delivery with design oversight from a UX Strategist, Designer, Design Lead, Design Manager, or Design Director.

- Iterate solutions through a UX process.

- Balance user needs with our client’s business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility.

- Create and/or contribute to existing design systems, wireframes, and functional specifications/annotations around defined use cases.

- Create storyboards, user flows, diagrams, system maps, and detailed information architecture and taxonomies.

- Iterate on solutions and create detailed wireframes and functional specifications/annotations by laying the strategic foundational structure of an application or leveraging and expanding upon an existing design system/application structure.

- Represent the voice of the users, ensure the solution is effective, engaging, usable, consistent, and aligned with the client’s business goals and end user needs.

- Design solutions that balance user frictions and needs with our client’s business goals, market viability, and technical feasibility.

- Present your work to clients and internal stakeholders, communicate complex ideas visually and verbally, use storytelling, seek feedback, and facilitate collaboration.

- Receive and facilitate client feedback, know how and when to defend design decisions and articulate decision trade-offs.

- Drive collaboration for yourself and others by engaging with multi-disciplinary internal teams, clients, end users, and third parties/consultants.

- Collaborate closely with Brand, Content, and Digital Strategists as well as Designers and Technologists to bring the solution to life.

- Collaborate with product development teams, including Product Owners, Business Analysts, Scrum Masters, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and front-end and back-end development teams.

Skills & Qualifications

- 3 or more years developing complex interactive digital experiences

- Professional agency, in-house product, or consulting experience preferred

- Strong presentation skills, experience communicating and visualizing complex and abstract ideas and concepts, storytelling and presenting to executive-level stakeholders.

- Agile and lean product design experience required

- Demonstrable experience solving a range of UX problems across a variety of business verticals, technologies, and user types

- Experience in task-based, production design environments

- Experience navigating complex, matrixed organizations

- Experienced in the use of design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (XD, Photoshop, Illustrator), Sketch, UXPin, InVisionApp, Axure, or other UI prototyping software

- Experience with product management platforms such as JIRA and ADO

- Ability to prototype with various levels of fidelity (pixel-perfect, whiteboard, paper, interactive prototypes)

- Solid understanding of graphic design principles (typography, layout, grid systems, visual hierarchy, color, composition)

- Passionate for agency life, multi-disciplinary projects, collaboration, complexity, and interesting work

- Strong ability to multitask, self-driven and self-motivated, consistently following through on a wide variety and number of tasks from inception to completion
