Description

United Airlines is seeking a capable and seasoned Managing Director for our Technical Operations Parts and Asset Trading strategy. As a leader in this role, you will have the chance to develop and implement a top-notch procurement strategy, ensuring impeccable outcomes and cost savings that surpass industry standards. Your primary responsibility will be to streamline sourcing processes for Tech Ops, covering various areas like engines, components, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Lead all aspects of a multi-billion dollar annual spend through global Tech Ops Parts and Asset Trading sourcing and procurement

+ Manage multi-modal logistics and inventory along the tech ops supply chain, ensuring balanced access to off-airport and on-airport infrastructure and services

+ Hire, develop, and retain a highly motivated team of professionals

+ Develop excellent relationships with cross-functional partners to achieve United’s business objectives

+ Represent United in industry forums and provide advice on matters related to physical and financial markets, management of subsidiaries, and regulations impacting expense and infrastructure

+ Partner with key internal teams to advance efforts and meet growth goals

+ Provide oversight to the team leading asset valuations and appraisals for aircraft and engines

+ Lead negotiation and implementation of agreements to enhance cost savings, improve service levels, and optimize asset utilization

+ Develop plans, business processes, metrics, and landmarks for functional teams

+ Guide team strategies to focus on data-driven analysis and decision-making

+ Develop strong working relationships with suppliers, service providers, and airports to drive sourcing strategies that lower cost and risk to United

+ Develop self-supply strategies to build strategic and optionality value to United

+ Implement a robust talent acquisition and management strategy

+ Provide high-quality communication to senior management and the Board of Directors on current operations and market changes

Qualifications

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Supply-Chain, Finance, or another business-related field

+ 12+ years of related experience, including 7+ years in managing supply chain/sourcing activities

+ 5+ years of management experience in progressively challenging sourcing roles

+ Comprehensive knowledge of procurement business process and strategies

+ Proven track record of building and leading successful teams

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Demonstrated excellence in leading internal team members

Preferred:

+ Master’s degree in Business or Finance, CFA preferred

+ 7+ years of experience in leading large Technical operations and/or aircraft parts portfolios

+ Demonstrated understanding of engines and aircraft components market prices and risk management

+ Sophisticated understanding of buy or sell-side of markets

+ Solid understanding of the aviation field
