Position Summary

CVS Health is recruiting for an AVP of Pharmacy Services (PS) Solution Engineering and Digital Delivery Engineering. The AVP will be a highly technical leader who is responsible for developing and managing the PS DDAT strategy in alignment with Enterprise DDAT Strategy and Pharmacy Business Strategy.

This role provides managerial oversight to technology product architects and engineers as it relates to optimizing solutions to meet business demand, as well as the technical leadership to high-complexity/high-impact or novel engineering and delivery initiatives.

This position uses expert level knowledge of technology platforms and disciplines and a detailed understanding of how they can be deployed within PS to justify and direct key technology decisions.

You will make an impact by:

- Building architectural and design application standards and frameworks to standardize the way applications are built and maintained in PS T&D- Guiding the engineering team and ensuring engineering solutions for all PS projects and initiatives adheres to the common framework to drive simplicity, elegance, efficiency and nimbleness in the solutions we deliver.- Leading high-complexity/high-impact design initiatives that are part of major projects.

- Creating and communicating best practices and prescriptions on the ideal usage of technology components – Providing technical leadership for the solution and design of key projects, promoting simplicity of solutions and anticipating future enhancements for reuse and nimble deployment.- Validating the quality of technology deployed across the organization and is empowered to intervene and provide direction when technical standards fall short- Ensuring Operational Readiness of solutions by conducting technical reviews to assure that implementations align with initial solution- Developing and implementing increasingly higher standards for performance, uptime, and resilience and builds these standards into solutions- Pushing forward the adoption of reference architectures while capitalizing on the investments in existing solution- Engineering solutions that promote best practices, minimize complexity and architectural layers and deliver business value- Demonstrating year over year improvement in uptime, performance, and user (technical) satisfaction with solutions implemented

- Assessing the technology stack and working with the peers in the PS organization in developing the technology roadmap simplifying the PS technical ecosystem and reducing technical debt.- Working with business and technology executives to proactively understand demand and provide architecture guidance needed for road mapping and planning

- Collaborating with the enterprise and shared services team and ensuring common enterprise standard are established where appropriate, and challenging and adjusting them when needed.- Providing thought leadership in the development of strategy, design, and best practices- Driving down technology cost by promoting reuse and componentization- Researching and implementing practices that contribute to a lean organization- Contributing to budgetary and planning activities- Developing and maintaining departmental budget and ensures adherence- Facilitating, challenging, and defending technology estimates.- Shepherding technology estimates through the funding and approval process.- Maintaining communication of the project portfolio throughout engineering teams to promote inclusivity across disciplines and assure operational readiness.- Creating and maintaining a training plan to ensure consistency in Solution Engineering Adoption- Building a Solution Engineering practice that prides itself on designing simple solutions and empowers teams that hold each other to a higher standard- Promoting the development of technical knowledge and skills- Facilitating various forums that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing- Maintaining awareness of best practices and emerging technologies and their viability at PS T&D.- Maintaining high levels of technical knowledge through ongoing research and development activities. May sponsor small technology task forces to research and potentially develop new technologies or practices.

Required Qualifications

- Experience in building large scale applications, with diverse technology spread from Iseries to web applications and web-services leveraging Java/ JEE, node.js, cloud technologies and solutions in a premier client and consumer focused organization.

- Experience in modernizing large scale technology applications and services from legacy IBM and Microsoft technology to microservices based cloud technologies.- Expert in technology research & development methods and tools, while demonstrating ability to sponsor and lead multi-disciplined efforts- Expert level knowledge of technology product evaluation and selection including web and mobile architecture- Demonstrates strong people management skills; with an ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a highly motivated team- Demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, strategic planning, and process management skills- 15+ years technology leadership experience in large corporate organizations. 7 years leading technology application resources (internal or external) and processes- Proven ability to successfully manage vendor relationships- Expert in technology consulting and leading teams of technical resources- Working knowledge of developing metrics and key performance indicators used to accentuate the effectiveness of technology solutions. – Expert in technology research and development methods and tools, and able to sponsor and lead multi-disciplined efforts.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced DegreeEducationBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$185,400.00 – $375,950.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
