The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Technician is responsible for ensuring safe and environmentally compliant operations on the production floor. Collaborate closely with HSE leadership to implement preventive measures and address unsafe conditions or practices. Your role includes system monitoring, data input into our Health and Safety Software System, and identifying opportunities for enhancement. Take charge of safety and environmental excellence with us!
- Ensure regulatory compliance across operations, from employee behavior to equipment functionality, and environmental protocols.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify correct usage of equipment such as cranes, hoists, and PPE.
- Maintain and ensure proper functionality of HSE equipment like eyewashes, ladders, and fire protection systems.
- Implement Behavior-Based Safety goals and engineer defenses to eliminate accident risks.
- Identify and report safety concerns and unsafe conditions, implementing corrective actions.
- Serve as a representative for safety and environmental matters on the production floor.
- Promote the use of "Stop Work" and "Safety Challenges" to mitigate risks and encourage safe practices among employees.
- Issue permits for hazardous work and ensure safe work plans for contractors and interns.
- Manage waste collection, risk analysis audits (HAREs), and participate in Safety Committee meetings and incident investigations.
- Own elements of EHS to maintain compliance with corporate, local, and safety/environmental system requirements.
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene testing and waste collection with third-party companies for hearing conservation, indoor air quality, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
- Required Degree: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years of experience in HSE activities.
- Risk Assessing: Basic understanding of how to risk assess a machine and/or process.
- Statistical Techniques: Basic understanding of general concepts of statistical techniques and terminology such as TRIR and DART.
- Auditing: Basic understanding of audit standards and principles (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001).
- Computer Skills: General proficiency in using computers; experience with Microsoft Office preferred.
