Job Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Collaborate with the General Counsel to provide timely technical assistance to ICASA rape crisis centers (“the Centers”). Respond to inquiries from the Centers and other organizations and individuals about legal and policy issues related to sexual assault.

 

  1. Support the General Counsel, including the following: (1) coordinate work of Public Affairs Committee, Regional and Statewide Advocates, legal services projects, and other ICASA-related groups and committees, (2) manage logistics for the Centers’ legislative visit days and participate in visits as needed, (3) coordinate schedules, prepare agendas, reserve meeting space, manage RSVPs, prepare packets, record minutes, and maintain files, as needed.

 

  1. Track sexual assault legislation; assist in the development of and updates to fact sheets, bill trackers, and summaries of legislation for distribution to the Centers and on the ICASA website; and utilize ilga.gov and Fast Democracy to track and report on bill statuses and committee hearings.

 

  1. Represent ICASA as a registered lobbyist and on committees, task forces, and working groups, as requested.

 

  1. Research, collect, and analyze data in support of ICASA’s legal and policy work.

 

  1. Draft, update, revise, and distribute Legal Team written materials, including memos, resources, guides, directories, brochures, and The ICASA Law Book.

 

  1. Prepare and present trainings on topics regarding sexual assault laws, such as confidentiality, legal and medical advocacy, and legislative updates.

 

  1. Update the Legal Issues page of ICASA’s website, email relevant information to the ICASA Listserv, and prepare key updates for the ICASA newsletter.

 

  1. Assist General Counsel in all aspects of the work of the Legal Team.

 

  1. Perform other duties as may be necessary or assigned by the General Counsel or Chief Executive Officer.

 

  1. Adhere to the philosophy and policies of the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault.
